About Dr. John DeLancey & Biblical Israel Ministries & Tours (BIMT)
You will sense a strong passion for teaching the Bible within the context of the land of Israel! Dr. John DeLancey, Director of BIMT, has studied in Jerusalem for one year (an archaeology and historical geography student), and has (to date) led over 90 Israel trips! He has pastored for 26 years. He founded BIMT in 2016 when he transitioned from pastoring full time to leading trips and teaching around the country as his full time ministry.
BIMT is a non-profit evangelical ministry (501c3). The ministry, located in Pennsylvania, depends on the faithful support of others. Many resources have been produced (i.e. John's two books, drone video, teaching videos on our Youtube page, topography maps) for the purpose of helping people understand the Bible in light of archaeology, history, geography, topography, customs, culture, and the Hebraic background of Jesus.
Each episode of this podcast highlights a Bible passage/narrative with the aim of unfolding it within context of the land. It is our prayer that Dr. John teaches sheds light on the truth of God's Word for your encouragement in your walk of faith!

"Light in the Land" - Exploring the Bible within the Physical Settings of Israel - Podcast #34 - 1 Samuel 24
In this episode, Dr. John takes us to Ein Gedi. Located on the edge of the heart of the Judean Desert and on the western coastline of the Dead Sea, this "oasis" (because of the presence of springs) served as the backdrop for the 1 Samuel 24 story. This "cave encounter" between King Saul and young David happened somewhere here! Ein Gedi was one of a number of locations where Saul pursued David (see 1 Samuel 18-27). David displayed trust in God and honored Saul's life!

"Light in the Land" - Exploring the Bible within the Physical Settings of Israel - Podcast #31 - John 20
This is a special Easter episode! In this episode, Dr. John takes us to the story of the resurrection from John 20. There are two primary suggested locations for where the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus took place: the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Garden Tomb. While we talk about both locations and which one may be more archaeologically authentic, this episode is focussed upon the "Person" of Jesus and not the "place" where it all happened. HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!

In this episode, Dr. John takes us to the Mt. of Olives to consider the Garden of Gethsemane narrative as recorded in Luke 22. The Mt. of Olives is located east of the Temple Mount. It is here where Jesus prayed "Not my will but yours be done" followed by being betrayed by Judas and bound by Caiphias the High Priest.

"Light in the Land" - Exploring the Bible within the Physical Settings of Israel - Podcast #29 - 2 Kings 18
In this episode, Dr. John takes us Lachish, a city in the Shephelah of Judah. In the 14th year of his reign, Hekeziah faced the formidable Assyrian army led by King Sennacherib. While Hezekiah was positioned in Jerusalem, most of his Judean cities (46 of them according to Assyrian records) fell to Sennacherib. This included Lachish, Judah's second most important city. The episode highlights three battles that took place here at Lachish (the first being Joshua's conquering of the city, and the third being the Babylonians destroying the city).

"Light in the Land" - Exploring the Bible within the Physical Settings of Israel - Podcast #28 - Acts 2
In this episode, Dr. John takes us to the Southern Steps of the Temple in Jerusalem. Some of these steps were uncovered in the excavations in the 1970s. These steps would have been used by Peter and the other disciples on the Day of Pentecost (Shavuot) as they entered the Temple. The story of Acts 2 no doubt occurred somewhere in the "House" (i.e. the Temple). The Spirit of God was on full display on this marvelous day!
